Durafiber Technologies at 2525 Blacksburg Road, Grover, North Carolina.

I am a former employee of durafiber technologies in Shelby NC in 2017. My experience at this facility was uncomfortable. There were alot of things I noticed that were unnecessary & I witnessed things that ran up the companies waste cost that could have been prevented. Most of the employees were very unhappy & it was noticeable. So when they hire a new group of people walking into a company of a new job the current employees give them a hard time. I witnessed that as I was hired. I feel as if I was trained in an indirect manner. The trainer's told me what they wanted me to know and not necessarily everything I needed to know on the floor with the machinery equipment and the facility. The first 2 weeks went OK as I was slaughtered with paper work and safety videos and all these safety papers etc. As me and the other people started to train on the floor we noticed alot of things wrong. The machines are completely filthy and broken down. There were holes all in the ceiling & rusted and mold everywhere. When it rains it pours right inside of that facility constantly getting the floors wet everywhere which is a big safety hazard. We were always dodging water spots and puddles of water everywhere. I thought that was very unsafe for the amount of time the company spends on safety meetings & the company isn't in safe work condition. The water did get onto the fabric materials we ran and we're constantly thrown out or not used because they got wet when it rained and they can't sell anything to other companies like that. I am a witness that I got wet during work routines and my paper work got wet at times and my material I ran got wet. I want to be honest about this company because if no one says anything they will keep letting this continue to go on. Also this company needs Professional trainees to train new employees. That's one of the reasons this company cannot keep anyone and they have high turnover rates frequently. After you train for so long which most of the time you train all they do is talk. You need direct hands on on this job especially in draw twist department. After I was turned loose working with other people I noticed the employees were very rude, very territorial, did not really want to help you or train you, but done it because they had to do it or to look good or keep their positions. They were very nasty to I myself and other new employees with a bad attitudes. I've never seen such unprofessional behavior in my time. Alot of employees complained constantly that they were overworked and tired. Some of the employees over work themselves by signing up to get over time because they were money hungry so they chose to over work themselves at times. But also I am aware of a draft board. Which is the board where if the company is short of staff/ employees they will make a person work on their day off so they will draft employees unwillingly to get the jobs done. I thought that was wrong. You should always have enough employees staffed to complete assignments. I noticed that most of the employees were black, and I'm not discriminating at all because I am considered or thought to be a black or African American woman myself. But I noticed that that's mostly what this company hires and I'm not for sure why. Also I noticed alot of the staff was somewhat undereducated. Meaning they knew so much but not really computer literate or knowledgeable in today's work society as far as professional work ethics. Many had not any professionality So when you have new employees like myself whos well educated & I have been taught professional work ethics it's very hard to work with employees that aren't or don't have those qualifications. It's sad and I hate that this company over looks that. Basically they want you to just do the job without understanding you need to be Properly taught to do the job first and make sure you can do the job in a safe work environment and get trained up the right way. I trained for nearly three months and I know for a fact by doing this the way it was done, we wasted alot of material. Unprofessional.
